Step Onward Foundation proudly presented the Love is Home Gala on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at the University of Texas Etter-Harbin Alumni Center.
It was an unforgettable evening of celebration, impact, and gratitude. The Love Is Home Gala brought together friends, supporters, and leaders united by a shared commitment to break the cycles of homelessness and hardship.
At Step Onward Foundation, we believe every individual deserves a safe place to call home.
Our programs support young adults aging out of foster care, families facing eviction, and those on the brink of homelessness—including families with a seriously ill child who risk losing stable housing—because we know that love, compassion, and community are the bedrock of lasting change.
Updates from the Gala and more
In September, we gathered for the Love is Home Gala, and the room was filled with purpose. Friends, partners, and new supporters came together not just to celebrate, but to stand with families in their hardest seasons. The energy was hopeful.
The generosity that evening was profound. And most importantly, together we raised a gross profit of $290k to provide stability and relief for more families, just like this one:
Liz, a social worker from Dell Children’s Hospital, shared her testimony and experience working with Step Onward. She shared a story about a family, a single mom of two children, one of which is severely disabled.
Just the week before our gala, this family had run out of money to pay for another night at the Motel 6 and had been living in their car. As Liz said, “Because of Step Onward—and because of people like you—she was able to get her and her children out of the motel and into a safe, stable apartment. Her child finally had space for the equipment and care they needed. And this mother who had been carrying the weight of the world, was finally able to breathe. Your support didn’t just put a roof over their heads. It gave them dignity. It gave them hope. It gave them a new beginning.”
That night was a reminder of what a community can do when love becomes action. Every ticket purchased, every auction bid, every sponsorship carried forward the message that no family should have to face crisis alone.
And because of that, we’re extremely grateful. Thank you for believing in this work.
