It Started With Grace

History, Public Status & Impact

2004   The Foundation’s initial branding as The Grace Foundation started in honor of our first recipient, and we operated under the auspices of the Austin Community Foundation for many developmental years.

2015   The Foundation was rebranded in 2014 as The Step Onward Foundation, and on March 30, 2015, we received confirmation of our independent tax-exempt status of 501 (c) (3) from the Internal Revenue Service and Department of the Treasury. Our effective date of exemption was October 1, 2014.

Today  We are a foundation that has aided more than 200 survivors, has over 25 influential partnerships, and is continually working with top firms to responsibly and effectively scale our impact onward.

Our Public Charity Status is 170 (b) (1) (a) (vi). We have contribution deductibility and no addendum applies. The Step Onward Foundation qualifies to receive tax-deductible bequests, devises, transfers, or gifts under 2055, 2106, or 2522 under the code.
