WHAT WE BELIEVE

Mission, Vision, & Core Values

The Step Onward Foundation breaks the cycle of homelessness for young adults and for families who are at risk of homelessness due to their children’s health crises. We do this by providing funding for education, housing, and health and wellness. We work closely with partner organizations to leverage all available resources and to determine where our financial support will have the greatest impact.

We envision a world where all children who have suffered homelessness and housing insecurity may reach their full potential as healthy, happy, and self-sufficient adults who contribute positively to their communities.

We believe that our support is a sound investment in the life of each young person we serve and ultimately an investment in the communities in which they live and work.

Our Core Values

We are guided by the following core values and beliefs:

Grace

We believe when resources, trust and supportive relationships are given to survivors who are ready to step onward toward their future, growth and sustainability emerge naturally as a result.

Responsibility

We believe all survivors deeply desire to be responsible for their own well being.

Stewardship

We are committed to the responsible management of OUR resources for the benefit of recipients and in honor of our donors.

Community

We believe in the strength of community. Since our inception, we have partnered with others who are already in the business of breaking the cycle of homelessness. We complement our partners’ efforts by filling the gaps in the services that they provide while extending and expanding resources to maximize positive outcomes.

Compassion

Through kindness, caring, and a genuine belief in the potential of each of the young people we serve, we encourage them to believe in themselves and strive for sustainability. In this way, their success becomes our success as another cycle is broken.
